Infectious Disease Exposure

As we go into the main showing season, the Kennel Club would like to remind all exhibitors to take great care when entering dogs for shows and deciding whether or not to take dogs to shows. They should always ensure that they do not risk exhibiting dogs at shows which may have been exposed to the risk of infectious or contagious diseases and which might therefore pose a threat to other dogs.

Exhibitors are reminded of the following Kennel Club Regulations:

F(1) 16 Exhibition of Dogs Suffering from Contagious or Infectious DiseaseNo dogs suffering from any infectious or contagious disease or having been exposed to such disease during the period of 21 days prior to the Show may be exhibited.  Exhibitors infringing this Regulation will be liable to be fined and/or to be dealt with under Kennel Club Rule A42.

And also:

F (1) 15 Exclusion of Dogs.  If in the opinion of the Show Secretary, Show Manager or Judge any dog is considered not in a fit state for exhibition owing to disease, savage disposition, or any other cause, the dog may be excluded or removed from the Show on the instruction of the Show Management.

Where reliable and sufficient information is available, action will be taken in an endeavour to ensure that dogs that are likely to pose a risk to others at any Kennel Club licensed event, are not permitted entry to the show.
